I was pleased to see little time is wasted and the invisible madness kicks off without hesitation, but then the brakes are slammed on. But the previews promised not one, but two Hollow Men, so I figured it would be worth a look after all. Instead, we have Christian Slater and Peter Facinelli, not my top two choices. When I heard about Hollow Man 2, my interested was piqued, until I learned it would be direct to video, with a new cast, and Verhoeven was only listed as executive producer.

#HOLLOW MAN 2 DELETED SCENE MOVIE#
I liked how it felt like a slick, grand scale B movie and of course director Paul Verhoeven is a personal favorite of mine. I know, most folks bashed it to no end, but I thought it was a cool thriller with some cool special effects. With their lives on the line, as well as the lives of countless others, can the two come up with a plan to stop the invisible assassin? But now he is going insane, killing everyone in his path in search of an antidote. A serum was given to a test subject named Michael Griffin (Christian Slater), in order to create an invisible soldier, perfect for covert operations. When Turner realizes he was attacked by an invisible man, he demands answers and Dalton brings him up to speed. Although they manage to escape with their lives, the attacker also got away. As it turns out, she is indeed in danger, as she and Turner are attacked and almost killed. Dalton is a scientist and she is thought to be in potential danger, so Turner is sent to watch over her. While he is taken off the case, he still remains close to the situation, as he is assigned to protect Maggie Dalton (Laura Regan). He is met by a group of federal agents of some kind, who have taken over the case. Detective Frank Turner (Peter Facinelli) is called in to investigate, but before he even starts his work, he is told his involvement is over. The murder took place in the open, with numerous people within plain sight, yet no one can identify the killer. Besides the deleted scenes, the home release includes a director's commentary by Leigh Whannell as well as making-of featurettes and interviews with the cast and crew regarding the film's themes in this updated take on a classic horror villain. The following scenes are listed chronologically in the order they would have appeared, following the events of the film.A man has been killed at a high society soiree, a high profile scientist, no less.

The Invisible Man released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 26th. Related: How Invisible Man (1933) Did Amazing Effects Decades Before CGI Perhaps it's this tightly executed message that influenced Leigh Whannell to trim parts of the film that failed to neatly complement his overarching theme. A tense and lean suspense story, the movie also functions as biting social commentary about toxic relationships and the viciousness of gaslighting. The Invisible Man follows Elisabeth Moss' Cecilia as she is stalked and psychologically tormented by her abusive ex-boyfriend, Adrian, the titular invisible villain. The added footage may not necessarily offer anything that significantly changes the impact of the theatrical cut, but it's interesting to look at which moments were ultimately deemed unnecessary for the story in order to gain a stronger sense of the filmmaker's vision. Director Leigh Whannell's tightly-wound horror-thriller The Invisible Manis set to be released on physical home video, and includes additional material, such as multiple deleted scenes which offer a more holistic look at Whannell's final creation.
